Outfitting Checklist

  • Passport (check expiration)

Clothing should be lightweight fabric in light colors. Clothing designed specifically for fishing in the tropics, such as Ex-Officio, Tarponwear etc. is nice.

  • Two pairs of lightweight cotton pants
  • Two to five short-sleeved shirts or T-shirts
  • Two or three pairs of cotton socks
  • One pair of Teva type sandals
  • Polarized sunglasses
  • Two long-sleeved shirts
  • Two pairs of shorts
  • One pair of tennis shoes
  • Fishing hat

Accessories

  • Camera gear
  • Insect repellent
  • Reading material
  • Sunscreen & lip balm
  • Prescription medications
  • Flash light
  • Sea Sickness remedies (even if slightly prone) Transiderm patches are recommended, Dramamine causes drowsiness.

 

Fishing Tackle

  • One Spinning or casting rod & reel with light tip / medium to heavy action. 15 - 30 lb. line on lightweight high capacity reel.
  • Fly rods 12-15 wt. for offshore 8 wt. for inshore fishing, flylines, pre-made leaders & flys. (call for recommendations)
  • Casting lures for inshore fishing. (call for recommendations)
  • 3 dozen select bally hoo (optional but nice to have)

 

Freediving gear (optional)

  • Light weight (2 mil) full wet suite
  • Mask, snorkel & fins
  • Underwater camera
  • Weight belt
  • Spearguns, buoys, etc.
