Fishing
Grounds
 |
Panama
is blessed with unique offshore currents, which continually
bring in migrating pelagics. What makes of Coiba region so outstanding
is, once the migrating fish arrive here they are greeted by
a myriad of bottom structure. Undersea mountains, volcanoes,
sharp, deep ledges and islands collidewith the deep ocean waters
causing up-wellings which are evident at the surface as current
rips. In short this is what our fighting fish seem to like.
|
| Black
Marlin tend to lurk above and around rocks and pinnacles in
300 feet of water. We have six separate and distinct fishing
holes to soak live baits in search of big Blacks. The very same
spotsare also outstanding for bottom fishing big snapper, grouper
& amberjack. Trolling around the same holes will get you sailfish,
dorado, tuna, wahoo & blue marlin. Even though you will be fishing
for and fighting offshore fish, you are always nearby or in
site of the islands. |
 |
 |
Fishing
the coastline of the islands is a completely different experience.
Instead of the expanse of blue ocean water, you will get up
close to beaches, rocks & cliffs at the edge of primeval mountainous
jungle. Roosterfish cruise thebeaches in front of river mouths,
Cubera Snapper school up on hundreds of different submerged
& wash rocks. Bluefin
Trevally readily attack surface plugs cast near wash rocks.
|
| When
conditions are right we often go ashore with the kayaks & inflatable
to fish the small rivers. Under a canopy of rainforest, surrounded
in wild animal sounds we catch snook, snapper & shark. With
live baits cast out into where the river meets the ocean, we
sometimes catch big Snook often over fifteen and up to twenty
something pounds. River fishing is not for everyone since access
is often through the surf, but if you're up for it and it looks
do-able,
we go. |

In
six days of fishing you could never do it all. Unlike most fishing
destinations where you run out to the same spots way offshore
day after
day, We can fish for whatever species your after in a different
spot every day, all in under a two hour range of the camp. While
you may find great fishing at most Central American destinations,
here
you won't be
limited
to just Sailfish,
Dorado & Tuna or only Black marlin, Sailfish & Dorado. Here
you never know what you'll catch next. |
