CAPTAIN - Tom Yust
I’ve been a fishing guide for over twenty-five years. I first fished Coiba in 1991 and I’ve been here exploring the fishing, year-round every year since.
No one could know better about sportfishing this area than me. In eighteen years of being in this remote paradise I’ve worked out the unique logistics & techniques which allow you to arrive easily, eat well, sleep well, fish with nice equipment, have fun, fight big fish, release them healthy and return home satisfied & refreshed.
My crew are seasoned professionals. My equipment is the best it can be. I really know how to work it.
I’m not in this for the money. I love this. I’m here for same reasons you want to be here. We are in the same boat. I just want to be here, outdoors in this beautiful place, fishing and having as much fun as we possibly can.
The Crew
Jessica, is our enthusiastic customer service gal in the United States. Jessica is who you will be speaking with when booking your trip. She’ll address your questions & concerns about our unique adventure. Jessica knows all about Coiba, she has been here many times and she’s the captains daughter.
Pat is who you speak with when calling the 800 number. Pat is also who you’ll be sending your deposit & final payment checks to. Pat is the captains mother.

MARLIN BOAT - Joker 31’ Bertram
Powered by twin turbo charged Yanmar diesel engines. Joker has a Pipewelders tuna tower, Pompennet fighting chair, large live well, four tuna tubes, Lee double spreader outriggers, downriggers, tower lights, twenty rod holders, two large Icy-tech coolers, Furuno electronics, fresh & saltwater washdown, head, lots of shaded seating area with space to spread out, customer controlled I-Pod stereo system.
3 Shimano Tiagra 80’s loaded with 130# on custom bent-butt chair rods for live bait / Black Marlin
6 Penn 50 wides on hybrid rods made for stand-up or chair when offshore lure trolling
6 Shimano TLD 25s different weight lines on Ugly Sticks loaded for bait & mid weight gamefish
6 Penn spinning reels, various weight lines on Ugly Sticks for casting
Marlin lures culled from 18 years of local fishing
Proper assortment / quantities of mix game lures; poppers, lipped lures, jigs, the works
Icy-Tech coolers, one loaded with Budweiser, bottled water & sodas, buried in cubed ice. Other is iced up for fish.
We keep it all polished and properly maintained.
22’ Mako with 225 4-stroke Suzuki
The Mako has two tuna tubes, a live well, Furuno color sounder, Furuno GPS, trim tabs, retractable sunshade, seating cushions, bean bag chair,16 rod holders and a good amount of storage space. Mako carries 8 shimano spinning reel / rods. Two trolling rods & two bottom rods. We can fill it full of casting, spinning, jigging, trolling & bottom tackle as well as freedive gear. You might want to load the two kayaks inside one day for visiting otherwise inaccessible spots. Think of this as a little adventure machine, it’ll go most anywhere. Three anglers & a guide fit just right.
It also carries a 15hp kicker motor. The Mako is a perfect compliment to our 31’ Bertram. It’s just what you want for getting up close to rocks, beaches, rivers & mangroves. The 4-stroke is quiet and runs up to 35 knots.
